Job summary

University of North Florida's English Language Program is seeking ESL instructors to join a part-time, in-person Day Program. Successful applicants will teach up to three classes per day, totaling about 26 hours per week, with a schedule Monday-Thursday 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

across spring, summer, and fall semesters. We value instructors who hold a Bachelor's degree in English or related field, with experience in multilingual settings and expertise in academic English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in English, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, English Education, or related field.
• Experience teaching English to multilingual learners from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
• Knowledge and experience teaching academic English.
• Ability to manage a classroom effectively and create an engaging learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver engaging English language lessons using established curriculum materials along with instructor-developed supplemental materials.
• Teach assigned courses in reading/writing, listening/speaking/vocabulary, and grammar across the program's six proficiency levels.
• Assess student learning and provide appropriate feedback/academic support to students.
• Maintain effective classroom management and create a positive, engaging learning environment.
• Attend faculty meetings and collaborate with instructors within the program.
• Proctor final examinations.
• Hold one paid office hour per week.
• Reading/Writing instructors hold one additional paid tutoring hour per week.
• Preparation, grading, and other instructional responsibilities are included within the scheduled teaching hours.
