Job summary

Waco Independent School District is seeking an English teacher to provide high-quality instruction in our classrooms. You will develop and implement engaging lessons, adapt to diverse learners, and assess student progress in alignment with district and state guidelines.

The role reports to the principal and involves collaboration with staff, parents, and specialists. A valid Texas teaching certificate and a bachelor’s degree are required, with opportunities to participate in district initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsements for English.
• Demonstrated competency in English/Language Arts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum.
• Prepare lessons considering diverse learning styles.
• Present material per TEA guidelines and district policies.
• Plan activities and use materials suitable for students' needs.
• Assess student learning and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Collaborate with special education staff for IEPs where needed.
• Work with staff to set goals and methods per district requirements.
• Supervise teacher aides and volunteers.
• Utilize technology to enhance teaching and learning.
• Guide study habits and study methods for students.
• Conduct ongoing student achievement assessments.
• Assume duties for extracurricular activities as assigned.
• Be a positive role model and support district mission.
• Create a conducive classroom environment for development.
• Manage student behavior per conduct policies.
• Protect students, equipment, and facilities.
• Assist in selecting instructional materials.
• Communicate with parents and staff conferences.
• Maintain professional relationships with stakeholders.
• Communicate information clearly and accurately.
• Participate in staff development to improve skills.
• Keep informed of district/school regulations and policies.
• Prepare and file reports and documents as required.
• Attend faculty meetings and participate on committees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
