Job summary

City of Westminster is seeking a full-time Dispatcher to handle emergency and non-emergency calls with professionalism and composure. You will dispatch police units, monitor field status, and provide critical information to field personnel and the public.

The role requires calm under pressure, quick decision-making, and strong data-entry skills. Training and ongoing drills ensure readiness for life-or-death situations, with a pathway for growth within public safety operations.

Qualifications

• Must be able to type at least 35 words per minute and maintain accuracy.
• Ability to assess emergency situations and act calmly under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Receive and evaluate police and emergency calls and transfer to appropriate units.
• Dispatch public safety units using a computerized system according to procedures.
• Maintain contact with field units and update status and location of units.
• Input, update, and retrieve data from law enforcement databases.
• Provide information and referrals to the public while adhering to policies.
• Attend training and drills to prepare for emergencies.
