Job summary

East Harlem Scholars Academies, operated by East Harlem Tutorial Program (EHTP), seeks a temporary/leave replacement Physical Education Teacher for PreK-7th. You will work with the instructional leadership team to develop curriculum, deliver high-quality PE instruction, monitor student progress, and foster a positive school culture.

You may also mentor students during their high school years. Qualifications include expertise in elementary PE, a Bachelor’s degree or higher, and NYS certification

Qualifications

• You have expertise teaching Physical Education to elementary or higher grades.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher and NYS certification preferred.
• Ability to maintain professional and ethical standards.
• Interest in anti-racist pedagogy and diverse populations.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Face students for the majority of the day providing high-quality physical education instruction.
• Collaborate with department and instructional leadership to internalize or develop curriculum.
• Track and measure student progress and foster a positive classroom culture.
• Serve as class advisor and mentor to students, supporting their high school planning.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or higher
