Job summary

East Harlem Scholars Academies, operated by East Harlem Tutorial Program (EHTP), seeks a temporary/leave replacement Physical Education Teacher for PreK-7. The role centers on high-quality instruction, curriculum development, and monitoring student progress while mentoring students through their high school journey.

The position emphasizes anti-racist pedagogy, equity, and collaboration with the instructional leadership team to nurture student success and well-being.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher and NYS certification (preferred).
• Expertise teaching Physical Education at the elementary level or above.
• Commitment to high professional and ethical standards.
• Experience with or interest in anti-racist pedagogy research.
• Experience with diverse populations of students and communities.
• Belief that every student can learn with quality education.
• Proven success in raising achievement for historically underserved students.
• Flexibility to adapt to school and student needs.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Two or more years of experience in relevant educational positions.
