Job summary

Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston seeks a Director of Environmental Health & Safety to lead and implement EH&S programs ensuring compliance with US EPA, OSHA, and state regulations.

You will oversee fire safety, lab safety, chemical waste management, training, and incident investigation, reporting to the Associate VP of Public Safety. This senior role requires CSP or CHMM, 5+ years in higher education EH&S, and the ability to build collaborative programs across campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S).
• Experience in higher education EH&S is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess environmental workplace conditions related to chemical exposure.
• Train employees for environmental compliance, worker safety, and lab safety.
• Serve as Chemical Hygiene Officer and Biosafety Committee member.
• Update health and safety policies annually.
• Manage OSHA programs and compliance training.
• Assist Physical Plant with permits and regulatory reporting.
• Coordinate Industrial Hygiene equipment program.
• Conduct safety inspections.
• Supervise hazardous chemical and biological waste disposal.
• Respond to hazardous materials emergencies.
• Present risk and compliance information to Senior Staff as needed.
