Job summary

Birch Family Services is seeking an experienced classroom assistant to work in the East Flatbush Early Childhood Center in Brooklyn, NY. The role supports teachers in implementing IEP goals and daily activities while maintaining organization and safety in the classroom.

You will participate in team meetings, assist with documentation, and collaborate with staff, parents, and outside agencies to ensure student progress and regulatory compliance. A strong teamwork orientation is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Possession of NYS Continuing Teaching Assistant Certification (Level I–III) preferred.
• Experience in early childhood preferred.
• Excellent communication and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Teacher in activities to support IEP goals and daily program planning.
• Support the learning environment and assist with instruction and behavior management.
• Participate in interdisciplinary teams and school functions as required.
• Supervise the class when the Teacher is away and maintain documentation.
• Communicate with parents, staff, and outside agencies as needed.
