Job summary

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age at time of appointment.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to read and write English.
• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Must possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License.
• Pass written examination and physical examination through Public Safety Testing.
• Complete or have completed the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission Basic Law Enforcement Academy within one year from hire date.
• Subject to background investigations, polygraph, and psychological tests.
• Maintain peace officer certification status for continued employment.

Responsibilities

• Receive requests for police assistance and inform appropriate personnel.
• Engage in routine patrol to assess crime-related situations.
• Conduct preliminary and extended inquiries and verify information from involved persons.
• Determine probable cause and take suspects into custody.
• Complete all reports per departmental procedures.
• Present factual information in court regarding field observations and investigations.
• Serve civil and court processes.
• Respond to information and assistance requests from the public.
