Job summary

Hamilton Township is seeking a Deputy Municipal Attorney with 5-7 years of experience to join its fast-paced Law Department in Mercer County, New Jersey. The role requires strong ethical values, multi-tasking ability, and a team-oriented, solution-driven mindset.

You will report to the Director of Law and may appear at Council meetings as needed. Salary ranges from $80,000 to $120,000 with a comprehensive benefits package, PTO, and opportunities to manage litigation and advise township

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of experience as a Municipal Attorney or in a similar legal role.
• Experience handling contracts, leases and other legal documents is required.
• Ability to provide legal advice to Township officers and departments.

Responsibilities

• OPRA document production.
• Preparation of contracts, leases, and other legal documents.
• Management of tort claims.
• Preparation of ordinances and resolutions.
• Interface with outside counsel.
• Litigation in any and all judicial and administrative proceedings.
• Legal research and writing.
• Providing legal advice to Township officers and departments.
• Appearance at Council and/or Board of Health meetings when required.
