Job summary

Plymouth State University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Practice in Criminology/Criminal Justice, beginning August 2027. The successful candidate will join a collaborative faculty delivering high quality face to face education in an undergraduate setting.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses, advising and mentoring students, engaging in university and professional service, and working with community partners.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a related discipline.
• JD and ABD will be considered.
• Demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching with evidence from colleagues and students.
• Skills in academic advising and mentoring students.
• Innovative, student-driven, and possessing strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to teach multiple core courses in the criminology and criminal justice program.
• Ability to contribute to program and university service, and to engage with the discipline and the community.

Responsibilities

• Teach 15-16 credit hours per semester of undergraduate courses in Criminology/Criminal Justice, including Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure.
• Advise up to 30 undergraduate Criminology, Criminal Justice, Police Studies, and Conservation Law Enforcement students.
• Participate in university, professional, and community service activities.
• Develop and sustain collaborative relationships with community partners throughout New Hampshire.
• Oversee the Criminal Justice internship program.
• Contribute to curriculum development, program evaluation, and continuous improvement.
• Incorporate evidence-informed practices, critical thinking, and real-world professional applications into teaching and student learning.
• Support innovative, experiential, and interdisciplinary approaches to teaching and learning.
