Job summary

The UNION R-XI SCHOOL DISTRICT invites applications for a Substitute Teacher. This classified position requires a valid Missouri substitute teacher certificate and criminal background clearance.

The substitute will align with district curricula, maintain routines, and support student growth while using technology and collaborative practices. Reports to the Building Principal; duties include delivering lesson plans, meeting class schedules, and upholding board policies.

Qualifications

• Valid Missouri substitute teacher certificate.
• Criminal justice fingerprint and background clearance.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board and/or Superintendent may find appropriate

Responsibilities

• Respect for the uniqueness of each individual learner.
• Ability to meet the individual needs of each student to allow for growth and development.
• Ability to convey information to students through written and verbal communications.
• Ability to encourage student ownership of learning and appropriate social and emotional skills.
• Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
• Teaches lesson plan as outlined by the absent teacher.
• Performs all extra duties for the absent teacher as required by the building principal.
• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Can work in a technology rich environment (Google Apps for Education, Chromebooks and Apple products).
• Teaches district approved curriculum and adheres to adopted Board of Education policies.
• Establishes and maintains effective relationships with students, staff and community.
• Communicates clearly both verbally and in writing.
• Organizes and prioritizes educator workload to best meet the needs of students.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
• Evaluates students’ academic and social growth and keeps appropriate records of student learning.
• Works well as a team member to serve all constituencies.
• Remains at school during the entire school day unless excused by the principal or the designated representative.
• Adheres to and follows all deadlines and requirements as presented by administration/state/federal law.
• Attends all meetings as requested by building and district administration.
• Maintains strict confidentiality as required by law.
