Job summary

Carleton College's Department of Classics invites applications for a tenure-track position in classical philology beginning in fall 2027. The successful candidate will teach Latin and Greek at all levels and participate in our two four-course language sequences, as well as upper-level Greek and Latin and in-translation courses on literature and culture.

We seek a dynamic teacher-scholar committed to a diverse student body within a residential liberal arts setting. A Ph.D.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in hand by appointment in classical philology or related field.
• Teach Latin and Greek at all levels and contribute to language sequences.
• Engage in upper-level Greek and Latin and in-translation literature courses.

Responsibilities

• Teach in the department's two four-course language sequences.
• Develop and teach upper-level Greek and Latin courses and in-translation literature courses.
• Contribute to liberal arts education and foster diverse student learning.
