Job summary

YMCA of San Diego is seeking a Les Mills Instructor to lead scheduled BodyCombat classes and foster a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment for members. You will greet participants, cue proper form, and ensure clean facilities while maintaining positive relationships with staff and volunteers.

Applicants should hold a Les Mills Body Combat certification, have 1+ year of experience, complete trainings within 90 days, and maintain CPR/AED and First Aid credentials.

Qualifications

• Les Mills Body Combat certification required.
• 1+ year experience leading Les Mills classes preferred.
• All trainings completed within 90 days of hire.
• Strong communication skills across fitness levels.
• Fingerprinted per YMCA policy; background checks may follow conditional offer.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (Adult & Child/Infant) from ARC/ACSHI.

Responsibilities

• Welcome participants and engage them in workouts.
• Demonstrate proper form, modifications, and cueing.
• Maintain a clean and safe workout area.
• Efficiently utilize scheduled class time.
• Set up and break down class equipment on time.
• Build community by learning names and helping members reach goals.
• Follow YMCA class guidelines and safety standards.
• Communicate to large and small groups.
• Lead and participate in exercise activities.
• Respond quickly in emergencies.
• Other duties as assigned.
