Job summary

Buffalo Public Schools is seeking an Assistant Girls' Basketball Coach (Temporary) for the 2026-2027 school year. The role focuses on coaching student athletes, developing game strategies and ensuring adherence to district and NYSPHSAA guidelines.

Candidates should demonstrate coaching ability, knowledge of rules and safety procedures, and the capacity to build positive relationships with administrators, parents, and students.

Qualifications

• Some experience coaching basketball at club, select, junior varsity or varsity levels.
• Must possess effective coaching techniques and knowledge of the sport.
• Must establish effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to NFHS Coaches Code of Ethics.
• Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
• Be available for contests and practices throughout the season, including weekends/holidays.
• Supervise the use, issuance, return, cleaning, inventory, and storage of equipment, uniforms, and supplies.
• Prepare and submit a schedule of scrimmages and non-league contest to the Athletic Director in a timely manner.
• Submit initial and final roster to the Athletic Director and update as necessary.
• Attend league, section, and coaches’ association meetings when required.
• Comply with district and NYSPHSAA regulations and procedures; manage injuries per medical staff guidance.
• Communicate with the Athletic Director and Building Principal as needed; attend meetings.
• Complete end of season reports and duties as assigned.
