Job summary

Concorde Education is seeking qualified American Sign Language instructors for potential independent contractor assignments with K–12 students in the Los Angeles area. Instructors will guide learners in ASL fundamentals and Deaf culture through interactive, hands-on activities and real-life practice.

Candidates should demonstrate ASL proficiency, experience with youth, and the ability to deliver clear, engaging instruction in varying settings.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in American Sign Language with clear signing.
• Knowledge of Deaf culture and respectful communication.
• Experience teaching, tutoring, or mentoring K–12 students.
• Ability to demonstrate signs clearly and tailor instruction to student needs.
• Strong communication, organization, and classroom-management skills.
• Reliable, professional, and able to work independently in school settings.
• Relevant degrees, certifications, ASL coursework, or interpreting experience welcome.
• Ability to create engaging, inclusive learning environments.

Responsibilities

• Guide students through ASL fundamentals and practical communication.
• Conduct interactive activities, demonstrations, and guided conversations.
• Adapt instruction to each assignment's scope and site requirements.
• Align lessons with Deaf culture and accessibility best practices.
• Assess progress and provide constructive feedback.
