Job summary

YMCA of the USA seeks an Aquatic Fitness Instructor to lead safe, dynamic water fitness classes that motivate participants to enjoy their workouts. You will conduct sessions based on YMCA Standards & Guidelines, ensuring safety and inclusivity.

Rate is $20–$23 per class, with a need to work flexible hours including nights and weekends, in New Jersey. Required certifications include CPR/AED, First Aid, and an AEA Certification, plus YMCA program knowledge and excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in related field.
• Current CPR/AED and first aid certifications (American Red Cross).
• Must have an AEA Certification.
• Knowledge of YMCA Principles of Health & Fitness, Working with Older Adults, Older Adult Water Fitness Instructor, Arthritis Foundation YMCA Aquatic Program Instructor certifications are a plus.
• Excellent customer service and communications skills.
• Must be available to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, engaging water fitness classes based on YMCA standards.
• Instruct safe, effective aquatic workouts for all fitness levels.
• Maintain safety and emergency procedures.
• Deliver high-quality member service and address questions about programs.
• Maintain attendance and ensure proper class operations.
