Job summary

Wonder Academy in Indian Trail, NC is seeking a compassionate After‑School Teacher to supervise and guide children aged 6–12 in after‑school activities, fostering a positive learning environment.

The role offers Monday–Friday hours (12:00 PM–6:00 PM) with potential to transition into a full-time Summer position based on performance and interest. Ideal candidates have strong communication and classroom management skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; degree preferred in Education/Child Development.
• Teaching certification or relevant licensure if applicable.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with modern educational tools and resources.
• Must obtain North Carolina Child Care Criminal Qualifying Letter.
• TB screening/health assessment required.
• Experience working with children in educational or recreational settings.
• Ability to manage groups of children effectively.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Incorporate interactive teaching methods using technology and multimedia resources.
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment and collaborate with colleagues to align teaching strategies with goals.
• Plan and lead educational and recreational activities.
• Provide homework assistance and academic support.
• Supervise students to ensure safety and well‑being.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress and behavior.
• Maintain a clean, organized space for activities.
