Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Dayton is seeking a Childcare Activity Leader - After School Teacher in Dayton, OH. This part-time, non-exempt role supports planning and delivering after-school activities that promote children’s social, physical, and emotional development while prioritizing safety and wellbeing.

You will work with the Lead Teacher and staff to implement weekly lesson plans, monitor attendance, maintain classroom and program areas, and communicate with families.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age and possess high school diploma or GED.
• Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Six months experience working in early childhood field strongly preferred.
• A valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and completion of YMCA Driver Orientation are required only for employees who will perform driving responsibilities as part of their role.
• Candidates without a valid license may still be hired but will not be eligible to drive YMCA vehicles until requirements are met.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and implement weekly lesson plans that fit children’s needs and development.
• Work cooperatively with Lead Teacher, Site Administrator, other staff and partners.
• Document attendance, transitions, and incidents for each child.
• Maintain the appearance and management of the classroom and designated program areas.
• Reports any broken or unsafe toys and disinfects toys and equipment regularly.

Education
