Job summary

Barre Gardens Nursing and Rehab in Barre, Vermont, seeks an experienced Activities Director to lead our resident activity program. You will plan, organize, implement, and evaluate activities that meet social, emotional, and educational needs within the facility.

The role requires strong organizational and leadership skills; PCC documentation; coordination with interdisciplinary teams; and supervision of volunteers. Vaccination is required unless exempt.

Qualifications

• Certified Activity Director with long-term care experience preferred.
• Experience under a Certified Activity Consultant is desirable.
• NCCAP Certification preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Experience with PCC (PointClickCare) preferred.
• COVID-19 vaccination required unless an approved exemption is presented upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and schedule activities, events, movies, parties, games, crafts, projects, and community outings at least one month in advance
• Develop and implement activity programs that meet the physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and educational needs of residents
• Conduct routine resident interviews, visits, and family consultations to identify activity interests and preferences
• Encourage residents to participate in activities that promote independence, wellness, creativity, and socialization
• Ensure residents are assisted with activity participation in accordance with physician orders and individualized care plans
• Coordinate and oversee resident shopping requests and outings
• Assist with management and monitoring of the resident smoking program in accordance with facility policies
• Organize and facilitate monthly Resident Council meetings
• Maintain accurate activity documentation and charting within PCC (PointClickCare)
• Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to enhance residents' quality of life
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and facility regulations related to activities programming
