Job summary

Vallejo City Unified School District is seeking a qualified Teacher to provide an instructional program under the supervision of the School Site Principal. The position requires a current credential and adherence to district standards, with duties spanning reading, language arts, social studies, math, health, arts and physical education.

Responsibilities include planning instruction, managing behavior, evaluating student progress, maintaining records, and communicating with families.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates respect and concern for students, parents, other staff members and administrative colleagues.
• Must have the ability to make decisions and perform on the job according to district standards.
• May teach a foreign language.

Responsibilities

• Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, health, art, physical education, music and citizenship to pupils, utilizing district-adopted curriculum.
• Provides planned learning experiences to motivate pupils and optimize instructional time.
• Establishes and maintains classroom behavior standards for a productive learning environment.
• Evaluates pupil progress, keeps records, reports progress to parents.
• Identifies pupil needs and collaborates with staff to address health, attitude and learning issues.
• Creates an engaging classroom environment with displays and activity centers.
• Performs basic attendance accounting and related duties.
