Job summary

Mesquite ISD is seeking a secondary school teacher to plan, deliver, and assess engaging instructional programs. You will work with diverse learners, align with district standards, and collaborate with staff to support student growth.

The role requires a state teaching certificate and a commitment to ongoing professional development, student safety, and parent communication. This full-time position operates within MISD campuses and district guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with appropriate state certification for subject and level assigned.
• Demonstrate a cognitive understanding of the subject matter and pedagogical skills.
• Possess excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and provide appropriate learning experiences within the assigned area(s) of responsibility.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and abilities.
• Guide learning toward achievement of district curriculum goals.
• Employ varied instructional techniques and media suitable for the setting and student needs.
• Assess student progress regularly, provide progress reports, and communicate with parents as needed.
• Identify special needs and seek assistance from others as required.
• Collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula per IEP guidelines.
• Develop a student behavior plan aligned with administrative policies.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy.
• Ensure safety of students, equipment, and facilities.
• Be available to students daily and to parents by appointment.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and student teachers; provide written evaluations.
