Job summary

Community Unit School District 300 in Algonquin, IL, seeks a Fourth Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Full-time 1.0 FTE, you will meet and instruct assigned classes at designated locations and times, and create a learning environment that supports student growth.

You will prepare lessons, encourage positive behavior, employ varied instructional techniques, and collaborate with staff to plan objectives and select instructional materials while upholding school policies.

Qualifications

• Illinois licensure with elementary general education endorsement(s) required.

Responsibilities

• Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the resources provided by the District.
• Prepare for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior and report to the appropriate administrator information about student compliance with school and district behavioral expectations, and state and federal laws.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with the location and needs of the students involved.
• Strive to implement the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals; reading training/background preferred with strong knowledge of RTI and Common Core.
• Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Evaluate student progress on a regular basis.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules and policies.
• Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional day when required or requested.
• Attend and participate in meetings addressing educational topics as a professional obligation.
• Collaborate with staff in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods.
• Collaborate in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
• Share responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
• Maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning progress.
