HEARST ELEMENTARY in Metairie, LA, invites applications for an Elementary Teacher (Target School) – 4th grade Sci/SS. The district offers a $2,000 stipend for first-year teachers selecting a target school with high needs.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree and a valid teaching certificate or eligibility for a Practitioner’s License. The position is 183 days per school year, with a salary commensurate with degree and experience.

Qualifications

• Valid Teaching Certificate or eligibility for Practitioner's License as confirmed by a local university.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mental, physical, emotional and social growth of any student assigned.
• Uses available instructional materials and a variety of techniques in providing opportunities for student achievement and development.
• Maintains accurate records including class lists, attendance, health records, and report cards.
• Plans and prepares for classes with weekly lesson plans and ensures timely reporting and duties.
• Communicates with parents about student progress and needs.
