What you’ll do
- Counseling & groups
- Conduct individual and group counseling aligned to treatment plan goals (open-cycle groups welcome new members frequently).
- Facilitate CBT-based, MI-informed, pro-social groups; maintain a positive, safe space for discussion.
- Deliver pre-employment & recovery workshops and life-skills training.
- Motivate participants for change; perform crisis interventions as needed.
- Assessment, planning, & coordination
- Complete screening, intake, orientation, assessment, and treatment planning; update PCPs and transition/discharge plans.
- Recommend referrals and coordinate with community resources; follow up after discharge as appropriate.
- Communicate efficiently with clients, internal teams, and referral sources.
- Documentation & compliance
- Produce clear, concise documentation: weekly clinical reviews, staffing notes, progress notes, transition/discharge summaries.
- Submit timely, accurate records per agency standards, definitions, protocols, and policies.
- Provide participants information on supplemental services and community referrals beyond program scope.
- Program culture & quality
- Implement evidence-based practices with fidelity; use data-driven strategies for ongoing practice improvement.
- Evaluate individual/family systems and functioning in work, family, and daily routines; identify supports and treatment needs.
- Communicate client/group/agency issues to the Program Director promptly.
- Build and maintain partnerships with other community providers.

Schedule and travel
- Schedule followsprogram and group calendars; adjustments may occur based on participant and program needs.

DWI Facilitator & SACOT/SAIOP Support
— Roles & Responsibilities
- DWI Assessments
- Conduct DWI assessments for individuals referred through the court system, attorneys, probation, or other authorized referral sources.
- Gather and document information regarding substance-use history, DWI history, mental-health concerns, social history, and treatment needs.
- Determine appropriate recommendations based on the assessment and applicable North Carolina DWI requirements.
- Complete required assessment documentation accurately and within established timelines.
- Make referrals to appropriate levels of care when clinically or legally indicated.
- DWI Education & Treatment Services
- Facilitate DWI-related education and treatment groups in accordance with applicable North Carolina requirements.
- Provide individual and/or group sessions based on the individual's assessment and treatment recommendations.
- Educate participants regarding alcohol and drug use, impaired driving, substance-use consequences, relapse prevention, decision-making, and recovery.
- Utilize approved curricula and evidence-based practices appropriate to the population served.
- Monitor participant participation, engagement, attendance, and progress.
- SACOT/SAIOP Support
DWI Facilitator also support the SACOT/SAIOP programming, including:
- Facilitating structured substance-use or behavioral-health groups.
- Conducting or assisting with assessments.
- Developing or contributing to person-centered treatment plans.
- Providing individual, group, or family interventions within the employee's scope of practice.
- Coordinating with Qualified Professionals and other members of the treatment team.
- Documentation & Compliance
- Complete progress notes, service notes, treatment plans, assessments, discharge documentation, and other required clinical records.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
- Ensure documentation supports the service provided, medical necessity, and applicable payer requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and R&C policies.
- Follow applicable NC DWI, DHHS, Medicaid, and agency requirements.
- Maintain required credentials, certifications, and continuing education.
- Court & Referral Coordination
- Communicate professionally with probation officers, attorneys, courts, referral agencies, treatment providers, and other authorized parties.
- Provide required documentation or status information when legally permitted and appropriately authorized.
- Track participant compliance with program requirements.
- Notify appropriate personnel of significant attendance, participation, or compliance concerns.
- Assist clients with understanding their program requirements and expectations.
- Client Engagement
- Establish professional relationships with participants while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Use motivational interviewing and other appropriate engagement techniques.
- Address resistance, denial, ambivalence, and barriers to participation.
- Encourage accountability while maintaining a recovery-oriented and nonjudgmental approach.
- Connect participants with community resources when additional support is needed.
- Crisis & Safety
- Recognize signs of intoxication, withdrawal, suicidal ideation, relapse, or other behavioral-health emergencies.
- Follow R&C's crisis-response and safety procedures.
- Make appropriate referrals to emergency services or a higher level of care when necessary.
- Document significant clinical or safety concerns appropriately.
- Team Collaboration
- Participate in staff meetings, case consultations, supervision, and interdisciplinary treatment planning.
- Work closely with Clinical Directors, Qualified Professionals, therapists, Peer Support Specialists, case managers, and other R&C staff.
- Communicate changes in client status and treatment needs.
- Participate in quality-improvement activities and chart reviews.
- Community Engagement
- Develop positive working relationships with local referral sources and community partners.
- Represent R&C Consulting Group professionally in the community.
- Participate in outreach, educational events, and community resource activities when assigned.
- Help strengthen referral relationships with courts, probation, health departments, treatment providers, and community organizations.

DWI Facilitators are measured on:
- DWI assessments completed accurately and timely
- Required groups/sessions conducted
- Client attendance and engagement
- Timely clinical documentation
- Compliance with NC DWI and payer requirements
- Appropriate referrals and care coordination
- Caseload/productivity expectations
- Professional communication with referral sources
- Client retention and successful program completion
- Participation in supervision and quality assurance
Recommended Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Substance Abuse Counseling, Criminal Justice, or related field.
- Appropriate substance-use/behavioral-health credential or eligibility for the credential required by the services being provided.
- Experience working with individuals with substance-use disorders, DWI offenders, criminal-justice populations, or behavioral-health needs preferred.
- Knowledge of North Carolina DWI requirements and substance-use treatment systems strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, documentation, group facilitation, and assessment skills.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of motivation for treatment.
