Job summary

Heartland Pet Hospital in Bellevue, Nebraska, is seeking veterinary students (1st–4th year) for an externship. You will gain hands-on experience in a general practice, performing exams, vaccines, and basic diagnostic work under the supervision of a caring team.

Our program offers flexible scheduling, paid externship hours, DVM mentor network, 1:1 mentorship and guidance, and future employment opportunities, with exposure to in-house diagnostics, dental care, and behavioral counseling.

We provide surgeries including but not limited to dental cleanings, tumor and mass removal, spaying and neutering, orthopedic procedures, declawing, and more. Our team understands that pet health goes beyond physical performance, therefore we provide behavioral and nutritional counseling.

Heartland Pet Hospital is located in the center of Bellevue, an urban suburb of Omaha, Nebraska. Named for its beautiful views, the town is known for being Nebraska’s oldest continual settlement since the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
