Cat Hospital of Metairie is offering an externship program for veterinary students to gain hands-on experience in a feline-focused environment. This externship typically lasts for 2 weeks, with accommodations provided if needed, designed to ensure students are 'practice ready' on their first day.

The program includes flexibility in length and support for necessary documentation for preceptorship. Ideal candidates are those currently enrolled in an AVMA Accredited Veterinary School.

Practice

At Cat Hospital of Metairie, we provide a broad spectrum of feline-focused veterinary services and diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. We also consult with local veterinary hospitals and specialists when additional diagnostics or treatments are warranted. Our facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, an in-hospital surgery suite, in-house X-ray capabilities, a closely supervised hospitalization area, and indoor boarding kennels.

Position Purpose

Come extern with us!Heartland Veterinary Partners' Externship Program works to provide veterinary students with hands-on experience and mentorship to help have them 'practice ready' by their first day in practice.

Externships are typically 2 weeks long and Heartland will cover the cost of lodging if needed.

Length of externship is flexible & we can support your preceptorship documentation as well.
