Key duties include evaluating patients, educating caregivers, maintaining records, and collaborating with medical staff to ensure safety and high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Provide education and training to patients and caregivers on the use and maintenance of orthotic devices.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.

Responsibilities

• Order orthopedic braces and medical supplies for the clinic.

Southern Orthopedic Specialists, PA is looking for a Durable Medical Equipment Coordinator/Orthotic Fitter to join our team. The main task is to fit, adjust and make modifications to orthotic devices like braces or splints that are prescribed to patients by a healthcare professional.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Evaluate, measure, and fit patients with orthopedic braces and supportive devices
• Provide education and training to patients and caregivers on the use and maintenance of orthotic devices
• Work closely and collaborate with medical professionals
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
• Comply with all safety and infection control standards
• Ensure patient satisfaction by providing excellent customer service
• Ordering of all orthopedic braces and medical supplies for orthopedic clinic
• Problem-solving skills to identify issues with braces and make necessary adjustments for comfort and functionality
• Patience and excellent interpersonal skills to work with patients who may be in pain or discomfort, and to communicate effectively with medical staff
• Knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology to understand the specific requirements and constraints related to each patient's condition
• Technical expertise to properly measure, fit and adjust orthotic equipment to meet individual patient needs
• Physical stamina and dexterity to assist patients in fitting and wearing orthotic devices and to perform tasks that require precision

License/Certification:

• LPN
• CMA
