Dump Truck Driver

Position Summary:

Bituminous Roadways, Inc. (BR) is a growing, award-winning, and established union highway/heavy contractor looking for a Dump Truck Driver to join our team.

This position drives and operates quad / tri-axle dump truck to transport, dump or spread loose materials to and from plant / job site. Drivers must perform their duties with little to no supervision but must also follow the directions of the job superintendent or customer. Drivers are expected to perform housekeeping and general maintenance on their truck and around the plant when not transporting material.

Our main office is located in Mendota Heights, MN. BR also has plant locations in Inver Grove Heights, Shakopee, Columbus, and Minneapolis.

Other Requirements:

All candidates are required to pass a thorough Background Check, Physical and Drug Test. References will also be checked.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Primary focus is to deliver materials safely and efficiently to and from job sites, however we expect drivers to help with crew when parked on the job site
  • Proven experience operating a standard dump truck
  • Working knowledge of DOT rules and regulations, construction site safety, truck maintenance, and road safety regulations
  • Verifying the types of materials being transported and ensuring that they do not exceed weight restrictions
  • Ensuring that the materials are loaded correctly onto the dump truck
  • Inspecting the dump truck pre-trip and post-trip, which includes checking the oil, fuel, Def if equipped, water levels as well as the lights and tires
  • Performing regular maintenance to ensure that the truck is in good working order including greasing dump truck box hinges daily
  • Promptly reporting any accidents, injuries, or mechanical faults to management
  • Communicate clearly with Truck Dispatch, Foremen and Supervisors
  • Stay in line with your load time; do not pass or fall behind

Preferred Experience/Education:

  • Proven experience operating a standard dump truck.
  • Working knowledge of construction site safety, truck maintenance, and road safety regulations.
  • Understand and know DOT rules and regulations.
  • Know truck routes and weight restrictions.
  • Valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
  • Knowledge of the Twin Cities and surrounding area.
  • Class A or B (CDL), required.
