Job description

Join Duke as a Dermatopathologist!

The Duke Health Department of Pathology is seeking a board-certified provider. This is a full-time position with dermatopathology responsibilities and interest in a second surgical pathology subspecialty. The successful candidate will become a member of a service of four dermatopathologists and a subspecialty pathology-based faculty group of 100 faculty members.

The candidate will benefit from being part of an outstanding university, medical school and health system. Our campus is contiguous and the professional schools and the college are within walking distance, which encourage collaborations. Numerous members of our faculty are associated with the Duke Cancer Institute, which is a comprehensive organization with multidisciplinary cutaneous oncology clinics that offer an ample supply of oncological materials and numerous opportunities for collaboration. We offer innumerable opportunities to instruct medical students, residents, and fellows through our robust dermatopathology fellowship and residency training program.

The dermatopathology service receives specimens from a diversity of busy dermatology clinics with emphasis on subspecialty clinics like pediatric, cutaneous lymphoma, alopecia, transplant, immunodermatology, among others. Molecular tests and direct immunofluorescence are part of inhouse services.

This is a full-time position of mainly dermatopathology sign-out responsibilities. Interest in a second surgical pathology subspecialty, particularly bone and soft tissue, hematopathology, or molecular would be ideal but not required.

Qualifications
  • Candidates must have an MD or DO degree, a valid NC medical license or qualifications to obtain one, and ABP Board Certification in anatomic pathology and dermatopathology
  • Ideal candidates will be excellent academic dermatopathologists with superior communication skills who function well in a team setting.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or additional training in bone and soft tissue, hematopathology or molecular is desired but not required.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary with productivity-based compensation and exceptional Duke Health benefits, including excellent retirement benefits, eligibility for public service loan forgiveness, and college tuition assistance for dependent children.
