Job summary

Goose Creek Police Department Administrative Services Division seeks a qualified attorney to prosecute drug and alcohol related driving offenses. The role requires SC Bar admission, a JD, and 3+ years of litigation or trial experience.

The position is full-time in Goose Creek, SC, offering a base pay range and eligibility for state retirement and optional 401(k) or 457(b) plans. Prosecution duties include case preparation, plea negotiations, and court appearances.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school.
• Three+ years of related experience including litigation or trial experience preferred.
• Must be admitted to practice law in South Carolina (SC Bar).
• Valid SC driver’s license within 90 days of hire with safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Review and prosecute drug and alcohol related driving offenses cited by city police.
• Meet with officers monthly to review drug and alcohol related offenses.
• Prosecute bench and jury trials and negotiate plea agreements.
• Prepare for trials, interview victims and witnesses, and track status of cases.
