Job summary

Gemini, Inc. is seeking a Machine Operator with extrusion experience to join our Cannon Falls, MN team. This day shift role runs on 12-hour shifts from 4:45am - 5:00pm, with a schedule of 48 hours then 36 hours the following week.

You will operate extruder equipment and ensure proper material blending and sheet production. Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED and 2+ years in production, preferably in plastics manufacturing.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a production environment.
• Plastics manufacturing experience preferred.
• English language skills at the 6th grade level or above.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates sheet extruder equipment.
• Calibrates blender to ensure proper material blend.
• Changes dies, screws, rolls, and dialups on the extruder.
• Operates extruding equipment and manufactures extruded plastic sheets.
• Monitors flow from dryer hopper to extruder hopper and maintains material supply.
• Takes instrument readings and adjusts equipment as required.
• Helps unload scrap with a forklift as needed.
• Maintains safe, clean, and organized work area.

Job description

Gemini is currently seeking a Machine Operator (Extrusion Experience Needed) to join our team in Cannon Falls, MN. This is a day shift opportunity working 12 hour shifts from 4:45am - 5:00pm (48 hours: Monday -Thursday 1 st week, 36 hours: Monday-Wednesday 2 nd week). A day in the life of a Extruder/Laminator Setup Operator at Gemini includes:

• Sets up and operates sheet extruder equipment.
• Adjusts and calibrates the blender to ensure proper blend of materials.
• Changes dies, screws, rolls and dialups on the extruder.
• Sets up and operates extruding equipment, manufacturing extruded plastic sheets, as required.
• Brings granulated material to the dryer hopper, and feeds the hopper in an efficient manner.
• Ensures a steady supply of plastic is delivered from the dryer hopper to the extruder hopper by monitoring the flow of plastic as required.
• Takes instrument readings on extruder and adjusts as required.
• Takes stacked sheets from the end of the extruder and heat seals the stack in a plastic shrink wrap. Covers the stack with cardboard and bands stack.
• Operates other Secondary Equipment as needed (Off-Line Laminator, Screen-Print Operator)
• Records material used during the shift by the job and provides such information to the Material Handler for entry into the computer.
• Helps unload scrap from semi-trailers by operating a forklift as required.
• Secures equipment and plant facilities at the end of the shift.
• Maintains an effective working relationship with all department employees.
• Always maintains a neat and orderly work area.
• Uses all required safety supplies and procedures at all items.
• May perform similar or related duties as required.

Qualifications – Education & Experience

• High School Graduate /GED or equivalent demonstrated competency through work experience.
• 2 or more years of experience in production environment
• Plastics manufacturing experience preferred
• English language skills at the 6th grade level or above
