Duane Reade is seeking a dynamic, flexible, and motivated team player to join our management team as a Shift Leader. We offer a fast-paced, challenging work environment with tools, training, and support to help you succeed in leading a Duane Reade store. The Shift Leader will assume general responsibility for the store in the absence of the assistant manager.

Essential Duties and Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage and track store financial performance, cash control, inventory, safety, customer service, and staff management.
  • Support the assistant manager in executing company initiatives.
  • Lead by example to ensure superior customer service.
  • Maintain price integrity to comply with weights and measures.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, legal requirements, company policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Maintain positive relationships with staff, peers, vendors, union officials, and corporate personnel.
  • Ensure marketing initiatives, planograms, and store conditions meet corporate standards.
  • Prioritize, plan, and coordinate staff activities using effective time management.
  • Ensure the store is well-stocked and products are rotated appropriately using the replenishment system.
  • Establish and maintain a friendly, hospitable, harassment-free work environment.
  • Motivate and lead staff to perform tasks aligned with store objectives.

Compensation: $18 - $20 per hour
