Job summary

Lincoln County Schools at Battleground Elementary School in Lincolnton, NC is hiring a dual Custodian and Sub Bus Driver (8 hours per day, 10 months). This permanent, benefit-eligible position reports to the Principal.

Starting October 26, 2026, salary ranges are $16.55–$21.69 per hour for custodians and $15.00–$17.62 per hour for bus drivers, with local supplements as applicable. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent; drug, background, and TB tests; a valid NC driver’s

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Pass drug test, background check, and TB test before starting employment.
• Valid driver’s license and NCCDL endorsement to drive a bus.
• Ability to read, write and keep records; follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform strenuous work.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs cleaning and maintenance of buildings and grounds.
• Deliveries, loading/unloading supplies, and minor equipment repairs as needed.
• Work in varied environmental conditions; maintain safety.
• Complete tasks at assigned sites promptly; report needed repairs.
• Transport students to and from school as required; interact with staff.
• Establishes effective working relationships with administration and staff.
