TITLE: Dual Language (TW) Spanish and English Elementary Teacher 2023-2024 School Year

POSITION SUMMARY: To provide direct instruction to students in order to deliver Framingham Public Schools’ high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, the achievement of academic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the opportunity gap among subgroups within the schools.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: A valid Massachusetts Teaching license in Elementary 1-6 with Bilingual Endorsement is required. Additional content area license is encouraged.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: At least a Bachelor’s Degree in the area of major study. Framingham Public Schools seeks candidates whose background, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of education.

SKILLS AND ABILITY: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  1. Proficiency in Spanish and English.
  2. Willingness to keep current with research and theory in the field of bilingual and dual language education.
  3. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
  4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  5. Strong organizational skills to balance the demands of a multi-tasking position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as an illustration of the various types of work that may be performed:

  1. Plans a program of study that correlates with current research in Dual Language education.
  2. Ensures compliance with research-based goals and non-negotiables of Dual Language Education.
  3. Communicates objectives to students and assesses skill mastery on a regular basis.
  4. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff and/or school committees.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal. The performance of this job will be evaluated as per the Framingham Teachers Association (Unit A) Contract.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Covered under the Framingham Teachers Association (Unit A) Contract.
