Overview

Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School is seeking a skilled and passionate Dual Language Teacher to join our K-5 bilingual program (2025-26 school year). This vital role involves teaching core subjects in Spanish to elementary students while collaborating closely with an English-speaking teacher to support our bilingual education goals. The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in Spanish, a deep understanding of bilingual education methodologies, and a commitment to fostering bilingualism and biliteracy among young learners.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Bilingual Instruction:
    • Teach core subjects (such as math, science, social studies) in Spanish according to the curriculum and state standards.
    • Implement instructional strategies that foster language development in both Spanish and English, ensuring students achieve academic proficiency in both languages.
  2. Collaborative Teaching:
    • Work closely with an English-speaking teacher to plan, coordinate, and deliver integrated lessons that support dual language learning and cultural competence.
    • Participate in team teaching and co-planning sessions to align educational strategies and objectives across the dual language program.
  3. Curriculum Development:
    • Develop and adapt teaching materials and assessments to meet the needs of bilingual students and support dual language acquisition.
    • Ensure that the curriculum addresses both language and content objectives effectively.
  4. Student Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Assess students’ progress in language proficiency and academic achievement regularly, using a variety of assessment tools.
    • Provide feedback and support to students, tailoring interventions to individual language development needs.
  5. Parent and Community Engagement:
    • Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians about student progress, curriculum goals, and ways they can support their children’s bilingual development.
    • Engage the wider community in the bilingual program and promote cultural understanding and appreciation.
  6. Professional Development:
    • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance skills in bilingual education and dual language teaching methodologies.
    • Stay current with research and trends in bilingual education to continually improve the dual language program.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Spanish, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  2. Valid teaching certification with a Spanish endorsement.
  3. Experience teaching in a bilingual or dual language setting, specifically at the elementary level.
  4. Proficiency in Spanish and English with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team teaching environment.
  6. Clearances: FBI fingerprints, PA state background check, child abuse history clearance, and a physical examination.
