Job summary

Community Academies of New Orleans (CANO) is seeking a PK English Instructor/Teacher to deliver bilingual instruction in a safe, engaging setting. The role emphasizes dual language pedagogy, collaboration with grade-level colleagues, and alignment with state standards.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood or Elementary Education, demonstrate fluent English, and bring experience or ability to work with diverse families and communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or equivalent.
• Fluent English oral and written proficiency.
• Bilingual preferred (Spanish and English) but not required.
• Demonstrated ability to work with students and families from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high quality instruction in the dual language model in the target language.
• Establish clear content and language objectives for all activities.
• Co-plan with grade level teams, faculty and administration.
• Provide ongoing student evaluation through grade reporting and conferences.
• Build rapport with students to create an engaging learning environment.
• Prepare students for required assessments.
• Maintain effective classroom management and restate expectations.
• Engage in professional development and collaboration with staff.
• Stay updated on Louisiana DOE requirements related to accountability and curriculum.
