Qualifications

• Minimum of 48 college credits; or Passed the Para Pro test.
• Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Experience with and/or the ability to become CPI trained if necessary.
• Experience working with children with Special Education services preferred.
• Passion to work with school aged children.

Responsibilities

• The Para-Educator will work under the guidance of teachers and school staff to support student growth and IEP goals.
• Assist students in learning across content areas in individual, small group, and whole group settings.
• Support self-regulation and behavior management to maximize learning, including behavior plans.
• Provide sensory support, including breaks and use of sensory equipment as needed.
• Assist and support communication between peers and staff using assistive technology.
• Support student transitions during arrival, dismissal, and between classes.
• Help develop social, emotional, and behavioral skills in individuals or groups.
• May review student IEPs and provide personal care assistance as needed.
