Vacancy: The Valley View Public School District is seeking a full-time Elementary Dual Language One-Way teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.

Job Summary: Under the direction of the building administrator and multilingual department, the teacher will implement a Dual Language Program, fostering high academic achievement and bilingual, biliterate, multicultural skills.

Essential Functions:

  1. Schedule, plan, and instruct students using district curriculum aligned with content and language standards.
  2. Develop lesson plans aligning with common core and WIDA standards in all subject areas including ELD and SLA.
  3. Deliver instruction to whole class, small groups, and individual students to develop English and Spanish skills.
  4. Establish a positive, safe learning environment.
  5. Modify lessons to meet students’ linguistic development needs.
  6. Use developmentally appropriate language in instruction.
  7. Create a respectful classroom respecting cultural and linguistic diversity.
  8. Conduct screenings for EL/DL services and administer assessments to measure proficiency and progress.
  9. Review student progress, maintain records, and develop intervention strategies.
  10. Participate in team meetings to address academic or behavioral issues.
  11. Set clear behavior expectations and communicate regularly with parents and students.
  12. Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum and student progress.
  13. Consult on EL curriculum and instructional methods.
  14. Participate in professional development and school activities.

Qualifications:

  • Illinois teaching certificate (Type 03 for K-5, Type 09 for 9-12) with ESL & Bilingual Spanish/English endorsement.
  • For grades 6-12, endorsement or college credits in content areas (e.g., Language Arts, Math).

Experience: Preferably two years as a bilingual English/Spanish instructor for K-5 EL students, but not required.

Skills: Effective communication in English and Spanish, both oral and written.

Work Environment: Typical school environment, infrequent physical activity required.
