Sylvania is seeking a 4th Grade Dual Language Long-Term Substitute Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year in the Bensenville area. The position runs approximately January 7, 2027, to March 31, 2027 (up to 12 weeks) and requires delivering instruction in English and Spanish within a dual language program.

The ideal candidate holds an Illinois PEL, is fluent in Spanish and English, and has a background in elementary education.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) for the assignment.
• Bilingual Spanish language proficiency required.
• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field preferred.
• Elementary Education endorsement preferred/required as applicable.
• Previous teaching or classroom experience preferred.
• Experience in a dual language or bilingual education setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Deliver engaging instruction aligned to grade-level standards and established classroom plans.
• Provide instruction and support in both English and Spanish in accordance with the District's dual language program model.
• Support and differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
• Monitor and assess student progress.
• Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and structured classroom environment.
• Implement classroom routines, procedures, and expectations.
• Collaborate with grade-level and dual language colleagues, support staff, and administration.
• Communicate appropriately with students, families, and staff.
• Maintain accurate student records and complete required documentation.
• Participate in professional development, meetings, and school activities as appropriate.
• Support the District's educational philosophy, goals, and student achievement initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
