Job summary

Northwest Independent School District seeks a dedicated Elementary 2nd Grade Teacher. The role focuses on delivering standards-based instruction, managing student behavior, and partnering with families to support student growth.

You will plan lessons, assess progress, and adapt strategies to meet diverse learning needs while collaborating with SPED and ESL staff. This position aligns with the district mission and 187 duty days per year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with endorsements for subject and level assigned.
• ESL Certification required for all ELA teachers.
• Knowledge of subjects assigned.
• General knowledge of design and delivery issues related to alignment for best results in students achievement.
• Ability to deliver instruction and manage student behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Student teaching or approved internship.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum.
• Prepare lessons with accommodations for varied learning styles.
• Present subject matter per TEA guidelines and policies.
• Plan instructional strategies and materials for individual student needs.
• Assess student learning and use results to plan activities.
• Collaborate with special education staff for IEP needs.
• Coordinate with staff to meet district objectives and goals.
• Supervise teacher aides and volunteers.
• Incorporate technology to support learning.
• Evaluate student achievement and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Support extracurricular activities as assigned.
• Maintain professional communication with parents and staff.
• Participate in staff development and Professional Learning Communities.
