Inside the Role

Daimler Truck Financial Services U.S.A. LLC seeking an experienced and results-driven Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our dynamic leadership team. As the COO, you will act as a critical change maker for the CEO, taking charge of overseeing and improving day-to-day operations across the North American market (USA, Canada, Mexico). You will play a key role in developing and implementing operational strategies, establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success, and evaluating operational results to ensure continuous improvement. This role will be responsible for guiding our North American Serviced Center, IT strategy and operations, lean management initiatives, and project management efforts to implement key strategic business objectives.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, a proven track record of operational impact, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to enhance efficiency and operational success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership & Strategy Execution:
    • Partner with the CEO and executive team to define and execute operational strategies that align with the overall corporate goals.
    • Establish and enforce operating policies across the North American market to ensure consistency, compliance, and efficiency in all operations.
    • Set clear KPIs to monitor operational performance and ensure alignment with company objectives, driving continuous improvement and success.
  • North American Business Center Oversight:
    • Provide strategic direction and regional oversight for the North American Business Center (NASC), working closely with the Head of the Business Center, who reports directly to the COO.
    • Evaluate operational results and ensure the Business Center operates at optimal efficiency, supporting the overall organizational goals.
  • IT Operations Oversight:
    • Guide the management of IT strategy and operations, ensuring they align with organizational objectives and foster innovation.
    • Implement best practices for IT systems, infrastructure, and technologies to support operational efficiency.
  • Continuous Improvement & Lean Management:
    • Drive lean management principles to streamline operations, standardize processes, reduce waste, and improve efficiency across all functions.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and organizational optimizations.
  • Project Management Leadership:
    • In collaboration with the Strategy team, define strategic initiatives and ensure their execution via disciplined and effective project management.
    • Oversee the planning, implementation, and monitoring of key projects, ensuring they meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration & Communication:
    • Serve as a bridge between the Strategy team and operational functions to ensure seamless execution of key initiatives.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across all teams and business units.
  • Performance Evaluation & Reporting:
    • Develop comprehensive performance reports and dashboards to assess operational effectiveness and communicate insights to senior leadership.
    • Analyze operational results, identify areas for improvement, and lead efforts to address gaps or inefficiencies

Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 12 years of experience in operational management or leadership roles, with at least 5 years in senior leadership positions (preferably as a COO, Director, or similar).
    • Experience steering IT operations and driving technological innovation in an operational context.
    • Proven experience leading lean management initiatives, continuous improvement programs, and project management efforts across large organizations.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to drive change and foster a high-performance culture.
    • Deep understanding of operational excellence, KPI development, and performance management frameworks.
    • Experience with budgeting, financial oversight, and resource management.
    • Ability to think strategically while executing operational tactics with attention to detail.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
    • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Lean Six Sigma, etc.).
    • Strong analytical skills and experience in data-driven decision making.
  • Position Details
    • This position is open to local permanent as well as potential for EXPAT assignment.
    • Relocation will be provided for the selected candidate if needed.
