General Summary

The Store Associate provides friendly service to customers shopping in-store and those engaging through omni-channel services. They assess the customer's needs and provide assistance by executing the company's customer service model, always putting the customer first. Store Associates will perform salesfloor and warehouse functions throughout the store including assisting customers, merchandise placement, completing in-store and online customer transactions, processing incoming shipment, regular cleaning, and maintenance. Store Associates must demonstrate behaviors that align with the company values. Store Associates are brand ambassadors and responsible for the end-to-end experience, from online to store. Store Associates must comply with all policies and procedures.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Personalized Customer Experience: Greet every customer with a helpful and friendly approach, read customer cues, match their needs with an elevated level of service, and meet the customer where they are. Share the benefits of the DSW Loyalty program and enroll new members.
  • Maintain Store Environment: Keep the shopping environment neat, clean, and safe. This includes clearing trash, cleaning the cash wrap and stockroom, returning shoes to their correct locations, cleaning the breakroom and restrooms, vacuuming, and other housekeeping tasks.
  • Merchandise Handling: Receive inbound freight, prepare, and display merchandise according to standards, complete markdowns, maintain clearance standards, and organize the stockroom.
  • Leverage Digital and In-store Services: Complete fulfillment functions like locating items, inspecting product condition, packaging, and labeling for pickup/delivery. Use company tools to check product availability and assist customers.
  • Customer Transactions: Follow policies and procedures to complete transactions accurately, handle money, and operate the register. Partner with the CEL for escalated service issues.
  • Team Participation: Participate in team meetings, training, and support a culture of inclusivity and teamwork.

Required Skills

  • Proficient with technology (register, iPhone, calculator).
  • Ability to stand or walk up to 100% of the time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Experience

  • No previous retail experience required.

The estimated pay range is $16.75 to $17.75, based on various factors including experience, location, and organizational needs. Benefits are not included in this range unless legally required.
