Job summary

SCCCD International Education is seeking a qualified counselor to support students with disabilities, develop and revise SECs and SEPs, and coordinate accommodations and services. The role involves advising students through matriculation, placement testing, and degree planning.

The position requires a master’s degree in rehabilitation or related fields, a valid California Community College Credential, and experience with diverse student populations. Evening and Saturday hours may be needed.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate verification of disability documentation and arrange accommodations.
• Develop/revise SECs and SEPs for students with disabilities.
• Facilitate accommodations such as note taking, ASL interpreting, testing accommodations.
• Assist with matriculation and class placement.
• Provide counseling to adult students with disabilities from diverse backgrounds.
• Monitor and track student progress toward degree objectives.
• Maintain confidential records and mandated reporting data.
• Advocate for students and coordinate with instructors and staff.
• Participate in professional development and committees.
• Assist with in-service training for staff and community.
• Work Monday–Friday; some evenings and Saturdays may be required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

Earned master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling

Earned master’s degree in counseling, guidance counseling, student personnel, clinical or counseling psychology, education counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, marriage, family and child counseling

Bachelor’s degree in marriage and family therapy or in marriage, family and child counseling and MFT license

California Community College Credential
