Job summary

Turning Point Home Health Inc. in Memphis, TN is seeking a Youth Mental Health Technician for weekend 12-hour shifts (Sat & Sun, 8a-8p / 8p-8a). You will provide supervision, care, and support to youth in state custody, document shift activities, and assist with medications and activities.

Ideal candidates have experience with children or youth in behavioral health, own a driver’s license and reliable transportation, and can obtain TB/CPR certification upon hire. Background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Own reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
• Proof of TB & CPR certification (can obtain upon hire).
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Direct experience working with children or youth in behavioral health.
• Experience with children with emotional challenges, intellectual disabilities and medical complexities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision, care, counseling, safety and support to youth in DCS custody.
• Document all shift events in logs, reports, incident reports and progress notes.
• Assist with medication administration and recreational activities as needed.
• Carry out administrative tasks and assessments related to care.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow all legal and professional guidelines.

Youth Mental Health Technician

• Previous experience working with children or people with special needs and an interest in behavioral health
• Must have own reliable transportation, and valid driver’s license,
• Proof of TB & CPR certification (can obtain upon hire)
• Ability to pass a background check
• Turning Point Home Health provides secure residential home settings that provide education and treatment services to prepare committed youth in DCS custody to successfully transition to a community setting.
• Daily responsibilities to include but not limited to duties such as: housekeeping, physical restraint of youth, medication administration and recreational activities.
• This position provides supervision, care, counseling, safety and support to youth who are in the physical custody of DCS. Implements individual and group treatment plans to effect behavioral changes providing security, controlling and maintaining custody and safeguarding youth from each other. Documents all events that occur on the shift. Documentation includes, but is not limited to, shift logs, reports, incident reports, inspections and progress notes. Documentation must be completed prior to the end of shift.
• Work is subject to close personal and physical contact with multiple youth and decisions made impact the protection of state property, the physical safety of the youth, staff and the employee.
• Direct experience working with children/youth is required.
• Experience working with children with emotional challenges, intellectual disabilities and medical complexities is preferred.
• Assist in the care of patients who are struggling with behavioral health problems
• Monitor the patients’ conditions and report any noteworthy variations to supervisors
• Assist in the creation of a safe and supportive care environment
• Offer emotional support to patients
• Carry out a variety of administrative tasks and assessments
• Follow all legal and professional guidelines for patient confidentiality

Experience:

• Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)
• Caregiving: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Required)
