Job summary

Integrated Supports for Living, Inc is seeking a Therapeutic Mentor to support individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health needs in daily living activities, skill development, and safety.

You will implement behavior plans, promote independence, and collaborate with a care team across group homes or community settings. This role requires evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts, with full-time opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1 year of caregiver/medical-related experience or equivalent training preferred.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing, preferred.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility.
  • Implement individualized behavior plans and promote positive behaviors.
  • Develop life skills including communication, socialization, and job readiness.
  • Perform light housekeeping and meal preparation.
  • Monitor health status, document progress, and respond to emergencies as needed.
  • Support clients in community activities and promote inclusion.
  • Maintain accurate records of client progress and medical issues.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide holistic care.
  • Advocate for clients' rights and preferences.

A Therapeutic Mentor (TM) provides essential support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, or other special needs. This role involves assisting clients with daily living activities, helping them achieve their personal goals, promoting independence, and ensuring their safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

Personal Care Assistance: Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility.

Behavioral Support: Implement individualized behavior plans, using positive reinforcement and other techniques to promote appropriate behaviors.

Skill Development: Work with clients to develop and improve life skills, including communication, socialization, and job readiness skills.

Household Management: Perform light housekeeping and meal preparation

Health and Safety: Monitor and document health status, including medication administration, ensuring clients' safety at all times, and responding to emergencies as needed.

Community Engagement: Support clients in participating in community activities, social events, promoting inclusion and interaction with others.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely records of client progress, behaviors, medical issues, and other relevant information.

Collaboration: Work closely with a team of healthcare professionals to provide holistic care.

Advocacy: Act as a positive advocate for the rights and preferences of clients, ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect.

Therapeutic Mentors may work in a variety of settings, including group homes or community environments. Shift work is required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Full time shifts available.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 18 years of age or older
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience in a caregiver role, medical role, or related training or 1 year of education and experience that enables full performance of all aspects of the job is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing, preferred
  • Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English
  • Successful clearance of local and/or state background checks and pre-employment drug screen.
Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a caregiving role is preferred, but not required.

Skills: Strong communication skills, patience, empathy, and the ability to work in a team environment.

Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification, Oregon Intervention System (OIS), can be provided upon hire if necessary.
