This role involves working on advanced systems, ensuring their seamless integration and performance. The main application is embodying these systems into custom chips (ASICs), which are by application battery operated. The designs are hence highly constrained by power and solution size. Qualcomm has been consistently delivering best-in-class products for global world leading customers. We operate in a highly competitive environment, hence our commitments towards the customers are strong to continue winning. In this role, you will join a truly global team that delivers solutions to the above-listed technologies across the entire organization, scaling across multiple businesses including mobile, voice and music, wearables, auto, IoT, AR/XR. To continue to innovate, we constantly challenge each other. You will need to be self-driven and motivated with excellent organizational and communication skills. We have a highly collaborative culture of open communication. We profit from the vast diversity of our local team and use it to our advantage. We support personal growth, create opportunities for leadership and cross-functional skill development. Based in our Bristol office, you are expected to work onsite four days per week on average, leaving one day per week to work from home. Due to the nature of our global organization, we provide flexibility in working hours to satisfy needs of individuals and allow for cross-time zone collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop modem systems for wireless communications or audio end-to-end HW/SW DSP systems.
  • Lead system design, contributing to both reference design and intellectual property (IP).
  • Develop and verify hardware models of core IP using C++/SystemC.
  • Conduct performance analysis and optimization.
  • Develop signal processing and machine learning features.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate wireless communication or audio solutions into various products.
  • Develop and execute test plans to ensure the reliability and performance of these systems.
  • Support validation teams to conduct performance tests and measurements.
  • Contribute to definition of public or proprietary standards.
  • Ownership of the design via the whole lifecycle from feasibility to customer issue resolution.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
  • OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 1-4 years of experience in modem or audio systems development, with a focus on DSP and systems.
  • Strong understanding of wireless communication or audio systems.
  • Experience with embedded systems and wireless communication or audio technologies.
  • Solid background in signal processing fundamentals.
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++, Matlab, and Python.
  • Expertise in fixed-point and floating-point implementation.
  • Understanding of key aspects of analogue or mixed-signal designs impacting system performance.
  • Understanding of key HW/SW design implications on solution size and power.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming.
  • Knowledge of RF design and testing.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Expertise in developing and debugging software on embedded platforms.
  • Knowledge of Bluetooth, 15.4, WLAN, UWB, and audio technologies.
