Job summary

Community Access Unlimited, Inc. seeks motivated individuals for Part-Time Direct Support Professional positions in Union County, NJ. DSPs assist people with disabilities, provide on-site supervision, and support health, safety, and welfare 24/7 as needed.

Weekend hours are part-time on Saturdays and Sundays, with paid orientation prior to start and ongoing paid training. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a genuine desire

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license and access to a car.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities a plus.
• Willing to attend trainings outside normal hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities and develop supportive relationships.
• Provide hands-on assistance with daily living activities and safety drills as needed.
• Assist with daily living skills, supportive counseling, and direct care.
• Assist with meal planning, shopping, and meal preparation.
• Communicate care results to relevant parties and document appropriately.
• Collaborate with families and supervisors to optimize care.
• Arrange and attend social activities for members.
• Transport members to appointments and activities.
• Ensure required documentation is complete and compliant with regulations and standards.
• Address member and family concerns and participate in trainings and meetings.

Job Description

We are seeking motivated individuals for Part Time Direct Support Professional positions to join our team!

The role of a DSP is to assist in the daily care of people with disabilities and provide on-site supervision and support 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Your vital job functions are essential to members' health, safety, and welfare.

Part-Time weekend hours are Saturday and Sunday.

The ideal candidatehas a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a genuine desire to work with individuals with developmental disabilities.

One week of paid orientationis required prior to the start of your assignment. In addition, ongoing paid training outside of normal work hours is required.

Positions are located in Union County.

Responsibilities

• Assists individuals' needs and develops an effective counseling/support relationship
• Provides hands on assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing and hygiene, and helps with fire drills and/or other health and safety issues as needed
• Provides assistance for daily living skills, supportive counseling, and direct care assistance
• Helps with food shopping, menu planning, and meal preparation
• Communicates ongoing care results and updates to relevant parties
• Collaborates with families and superiors for best care opportunities
• Helps to arrange and attend social activities
• Transports members to medical appointments, recreation activities, etc.
• Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
• Helps resolve member and family concerns
• Attends required trainings, staff meetings, and other meetings/events as requested
• Performs other duties as required
