Job summary

MARC, Inc. of Manchester is a not-for-profit agency supporting people with disabilities in Manchester, CT and surrounding towns since 1952.

We are seeking a Direct Support Professional for a part-time role with flexible hours, including nights and weekends. A valid CT driver’s license with vehicle, CT registration, insurance, and a high school diploma are required; CPR/First Aid/PMT certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain CT license, auto-registration, and vehicle insurance as driving is required.
• Knowledge of proactive thinking and positive supports.
• CPR, First Aid, PMT and Medication Certification are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides both staff and natural supports to and implements services for each person served.
• Ensures each person served becomes involved in their community utilizing natural supports.
• Support each person served in taking care of their home, finances, proper nutrition, and medical needs to the best of their ability.
• Work with the Group Home Manager on goals of people served.
• Ensures residential settings according to the physical standards at all times.
• Ensures that all persons served are accorded all their rights and responsibilities and are free from abuse or neglect.
• Attends MARC training sessions including CPR, First Aid, PMT, and Medication Certification; trainings must be kept current.
• Transports persons served in either an agency vehicle or a personal vehicle whenever necessary.

Job Details: Job Location: MARC, Inc. of Manchester, CT - Manchester, CT 06042, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: $19.75 - $19.75 Hourly, Do you love helping others? We are currently looking for a Direct Support Professional to help the people we are supporting in our group homes.

Requirements:

Must have a valid CT Driver's License and vehicle with current CT registration and insurance, as driving is a requirement of the position.

Must have a High School Diploma.

CPR, First Aid, PMT and Med Certification are preferred.

Part-Time position available; Flexible hours to include nights and weekends.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONDIBILITIES:

• Ensures confidentiality and demonstrates positive attitude and behavior at all times so as to provide an appropriate role model for others.
• Attends all applicable MARC training sessions including CPR, First Aid, PMT, and Medication Certification. All trainings must be completed within six months of hire date or termination will follow. All trainings must be kept current.
• Transports persons served in either an agency vehicle or a personal vehicle whenever necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to obtain CT license, auto-registration, and vehicle insurance as driving is required
• Knowledge of proactive thinking and positive supports

PHYSICAL EFFORTS:

• Frequent sitting, walking, standing, and driving.
• Ability to lift and transfer up to 30 lbs. and occasional lifting of nonambulatory people
