Job summary

Maxim Healthcare is hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide individualized support to adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Charlotte, NC. This role requires driving and accompanying patients throughout the community to help them achieve their goals.

You will mentor, advocate, and coach for independence while transporting patients in your own vehicle and promoting quality of life.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills
• Proficiency in the English language required
• Active driver’s license
• Technological proficiency including mobile devices for documentation
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• NCI Training
• CPR/FA
• TB screening

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal prep, and household chores
• May transport clients to and from community activities
• Support individuals in achieving developmental goals and fostering independence
• Encourage community participation and accompany individuals on outings and social activities
• Document observations and progress on goals and ensure a safe environment for client

Schedule: Monday and Wednesday 12p to 630p, Friday 2p to 6p and Saturday 9 to 5p

DSPs serve as mentors, advocates, and life coaches by fostering independence, teaching life skills, promoting community engagement, and supporting meaningful participation in social, recreational, educational, and vocational activities. This role requires that you are comfortable transporting patients in your own vehicle, encouraging personal growth, and creating opportunities that enhance quality of life and overall independence.
