Job summary

Anthesis is seeking a DSP Job Coach (Individual Placement) to instruct adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in vocational and social activities. The role requires using a personal vehicle to transport participants to community job sites and activities.

The position is full-time with a schedule that varies and includes weekends. A valid California driver’s license and clean driving record are required, along with first aid/CPR or ability to obtain certification.

DSP JOB COACH (INDIVIDUAL PLACEMENT)

SHIFT: FULL-TIME

SCHEDULE: VARIES MUST BE AVAILABLE MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY AND WEEKENDS.

PAY RANGE: $23.50/hr. to $24.00/hr.

SUMMARY

The Job Coach is responsible for instructing adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in activities designed to promote vocational, social, physical, and intellectual growth. This includes but is not limited to working with participants who are hired for work in the community. This position requires the use of the employee’s own personal vehicle to transport participants to and from the above activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Is responsible to ensure all job duties are performed in-line with and in support of the mission of Anthesis.
2. Provides means of daily transportation of participants in personal vehicle to and from their work locations throughout the community.
3. Responsible for accurate documentation of production records, including piece rates, input data into Intuition and any other information relating to employee pay or program service billing.
4. Attends required staff meetings and assists in discussion of off-site activities.
5. Responsible for the work performance of consumer workers assigned to the community employer location.
6. Responsible for maintaining a folder with consumer worker information at all times.
7. Responsible for maintaining a transportation log when applicable.
8. Responsible for monthly consumer worker meetings and documentation of safety and rules of conduct of community employer location.
9. Responsible for any documentation related to off-site billing for work performed.
10. Coordinates production scheduling through written and/or oral instructions.
11. Maintains a supportive relationship, careful training, and correct job placement/assignments to enhance or improve consumer worker capabilities.
12. Sets a good example of rules and directives of community employer, displaying to consumer workers the proper techniques, habits, and attitudes for work.
13. Makes recommendations to program manager for any improvement to simplify or increase production.
14. Maintains quality production through continual inspection of consumers' work.
15. Maintains accurate, individualized accounting of consumer workers' attendance, working hours and production.
16. Sets up proper workstations and layouts when required. Simplifies work methods when possible and assists consumer workers to meet production schedules.
17. Determines needed materials, parts, tools, & equipment to complete jobs &keeps consumer workers supplied w/such.
18. Analyses and corrects production problems and slow downs. Controls waste of material and time. Deals effectively with problems which hinder employment such as defiant behavior, hygiene, grooming, low productivity.
19. Deals with consumer worker grievances or complaints in conjunction with program manager.
20. Assists in the compilation of data for the program evaluation system.
21. Responsible for accurate work performance records utilizing Case Contact Notes.
22. Aids program manager and case manager in developing and implementing Individual Habilitation Plan for each consumer.
23. Responsible for intervention in behavior management problems in compliance with Individual Habilitation Plans.
24. Responsible for charting consumer progress in consumer files.
25. Responsible for complying with the safety standards of the agency.
26. Responsible for the prompt reporting of injuries and other serious incidents involving the consumer to the program manager and case manager.
27. Responsible for safe operation of agency vehicles and for prompt reporting of all accidents and/or vehicle code to the Director of Work Services. Responsible for maintaining clean environment in agency vehicles.
28. Must maintain valid first aid and CPR certification.
29. Must possess valid California Driver’s License, current vehicle registration and proof of vehicle insurance.
30. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Associate of Arts Degree in a related field desired; Sufficient experience with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to carry out duties required in above description; Must possess valid California Driver's License and three (3) years driving experience with a good driving record.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; Ability to write simple correspondence; Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, consumers, and employees of the organization; Demonstrated ability to keep clear, accurate records; Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; Ability to compute rate, and percentage.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must be able to pass DOJ/FBI background check, drug screening, pre-employment physical, TB test and employment reference. Must have reliable transportation to be able to carry 3 to 4 participants. Use of personal vehicle is required to carry participants between work and home. Must have current California driver’s license, insurance, and registration. Must be able to meet requirements of Anthesis' insurance carrier upon hire and on annual basis. Must be able to meet and maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
